F1B Goldendoodle Growth by Size

Going back to our point from the intro, F1B Goldendoodles are available in an assortment of sizes since they have such as strong Poodle lineage and Poodles come in many sizes themselves.

Let’s over the various sizes for your fluffy, curly Goldendoodle.

TypeHeight/Size
Teacup9-12 inches (23-30 cm)
Toy13-15 inches (33-38 cm)
Mini16-18 inches (41-46 cm)

Teacup

The teeniest-tiniest of the F1B Goldendoodles is the teacup variety. These dogs come from the Toy Poodle and an F1 Toy Goldendoodle, which explains the smaller-than-average size.

You can expect your Teacup F1B Goldendoodle to reach heights of 9 inches (23 cm) at the shortest and 12 inches (30 cm) at the tallest.

Like most teacup dogs, the Teacup F1B Doodle can’t exactly fit in a teacup except when it’s a very young puppy.

However, the tiny size of this Goldendoodle still makes it the perfect dog for apartment dwellers or homeowners with small dwellings.

Toy

The next size up is the Toy F1B Goldendoodle. These dogs are bred from Toy Poodles and F1 Mini Goldendoodles. Toy F1B Doodles are only moderately taller than Teacup F1B Doodles, as the Toy Doodle stands at 13 to 15 inches (33 to 38 cm) tall.

These Teddy bear-curled dogs are still great if you don’t have a lot of space but want to bring home a fluffy companion to make your days brighter.

Mini

The next biggest size in the F1B Goldendoodle lineage is the mini. A Mini F1B Doodle is a crossbreed of a purebred Mini Poodle and an F1 Mini Goldendoodle.

This dog is bigger still but never oversized due to the reduced Golden Retriever lineage. A Mini F1B Goldendoodle stands at 16 to 18 inches (41 to 46 cm) tall.

At this height, your dog might be a little cramped in an apartment, but in a smaller home, the dog would still have adequate room to roam.

Medium-Sized

Bigger still, the medium-sized F1B Goldendoodle is about 18 to 21 inches (46 to 53 cm) tall.

This is practically as big as F1B Doodles get, but of course, there is still one bigger dog than the mid-sized Doodle.

So where does a medium-sized F1B Goldendoodle come from, anyway? The dog is bred from a medium-sized Poodle (sometimes referred to as the Moyen) and a standard-sized F1 Goldendoodle.

A dog of this size would be happiest in a spacious home with a large backyard to run around and burn off some energy!

Standard

Standard Goldendoodle

The biggest F1B Goldendoodle is the Standard Doodle.

While admittedly, the medium-sized F1B Doodle is a bit of a gray area in pinning down its size, there’s far less confusion when it comes to the standard-sized F1B Goldendoodle.

This crossbreed comes from the Standard Poodle, which is the biggest Poodle variety. The other parent of this Doodle is the F1 standard-sized Goldendoodle.

An F1B Standard Goldendoodle is quite sizable at 19 to 25 inches (48 to 64 cm) tall. Anything but a full-sized house would be cruel for this dog, as he will need lots of space to run, romp, roam, and play.

How Much Will an F1B Goldendoodle Weigh?

Now that we’ve discussed the anticipated size of an F1B Goldendoodle, it’s time to accompany that information with how much this dog can weigh.

As was the case with the Doodle’s height, it varies based on its size. Let’s go over each F1B Goldendoodle size and reveal its accompanying weight.

TypeWeight
TeacupUp to 13 lbs (6 kgs)
Toy13-20 lbs (6-9 kgs)
Mini20-40 lbs (9-18 kgs)
Medium-Sized30-50 lbs (14-23 kgs)
Standard40-85 lbs (18-39 kgs)

Teacup

You’ll recall from the last section that the Teacup F1B Goldendoodle is the smallest Doodle variety, at least as of this writing. The dog, in maturity, is 9 to 12 inches (23 to 30 cm) tall, but how much does it weigh?

Teacup F1B Goldendoodles are as light as they are tiny, as they weigh no more than 13 pounds (6 kgs). You’ll have to handle your dog delicately.

If you share a house with larger dogs or young kids, you might want to rethink adopting a Teacup F1B Doodle. The poor dog could end up accidentally hurt.

Toy

The second-smallest F1B Goldendoodle is the too-cute toy. At about 15 inches (38 cm) tall, the F1B Toy Doodle is 13 to 20 pounds (6 to 9 kgs).

At this size, your Goldendoodle could hold its own against more rambunctious kids, but we would still tell you to think twice about pairing this Doodle with bigger dogs. Medium-sized dogs won’t barrel your pup over!

Mini

The Mini F1B Goldendoodle is no taller than 18 inches (46 cm), so you’d expect this dog to be heavier.

Indeed, in maturity, a Mini F1B Doodle will clock in at 20 to 40 pounds (9 to 18 kgs). It’s only at this point that a Goldendoodle would be able to coexist with bigger canines in the house.

You would want to make sure that your dog has plenty of space. In a small apartment, a pup this heavy could end up knocking things over without really meaning to.

Medium-Sized

Getting bigger and bigger, a medium-sized F1B Goldendoodle at 21 inches (53 cm) tall would weigh anywhere from 30 to 50 pounds (14 to 23 kgs) in maturity.

You’ll recall that of all the F1B Goldendoodle sizes that this one has the most ambiguity. Even still, if your Doodle does indeed hold true to that weight class, you’re going to have one large dog.

In this case, a medium-sized F1B Doodle would be too large for very young kids and even slightly older kids.

You might want to bring the dog into the house if you have tweens or teens who can appreciate the dog’s size and might.

Standard

That brings us to the biggest of the F1B Goldendoodles, the Standard Doodle.

You already know that this dog can stand at 25 inches (64 cm) tall in maturity, which suggests quite the heavyweight class

Indeed, the Standard F1B Goldendoodle weighs anywhere from 40 to 85 pounds (18 to 39 kgs). There’s just that much more of your dog to love!

Goldendoodle Weight and Dimensions by Age

How much will your Goldendoodle grow in size as it matures? To wrap up, we want to share size and weight expectations for mini, mid-sized, and standard Goldendoodles over the months and years.

Mini

The Miniature Goldendoodle is very light from birth, weighing only one pound (0.45 kg).

Within two weeks, a dog of this size will weigh two pounds (0.90 kgs). You’ll have to wait until your Mini Goldendoodle reaches the three-to-eight-week mark, as that’s when the growth really starts to become noticeable.

By eight weeks old, your Doodle puppy should weigh four to nine pounds (1.8 to 4 kgs). By 12 weeks, the dog weighs roughly 12 pounds (5 kgs).

At four months old, your Mini Goldendoodle isn’t quite as mini, as it weighs 17 to 19 pounds (8 to 9 kgs), then 24 to 26 pounds (11 to 12 kgs) by around eight months.

As your Mini Doodle gains weight, it will steadily grow in height as well, eventually reaching the threshold of 16 to 18 inches (41 to 46 cm).

Medium-Sized

The medium-sized Goldendoodle grows sizable enough, but not from puppyhood, of course.

The dog is only a pound from birth and speeds up its growth exponentially from there. By two weeks in, the mid-sized Doodle already weighs three pounds, and by eight weeks, it’s up to 15 pounds (7 kgs)!

By the time your puppy is 12 weeks old, don’t be surprised if your Goldendoodle weighs 20 pounds (9 kgs). The growth continues at a rate of five pounds a month until six months.

Then your mid-sized Doodle doesn’t gain as much weight or as much height. Growth slows but doesn’t stop altogether though.

Standard

The largest Goldendoodle is the standard-sized pup, which can be up to a pound and a half (0.68 kg) at birth.

Fast growth accompanies its first eight weeks of life in both the height and weight department. By weight weeks, your Standard Doodle could weigh 20 to 22 pounds (9 to 10 kgs). It’s not unheard of!

By about 12 weeks, the dog might weigh 35 pounds (16 kgs), and then 45 pounds (20 kgs) by six months.

Within about a year, you shouldn’t see another growth spurt from this dog, as it’s about done growing.

Conclusion

F1B Goldendoodles come in all sizes to match your tastes and space needs. If you have a smaller home, then a Teacup or Toy Doodle suits you fine.

You can even adopt a bigger Standard F1B Goldendoodle if you have a sizable home with a large, fenced-in yard!
